AMAG and Sekolah Relawan Act Swiftly to Deliver Aid to Flood and Landslide Survivors in Sumatra

Flash floods and landslides that struck Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra since late November 2025 have had a significant impact on local communities. As a form of humanitarian concern, Asuransi MAG (AMAG), in collaboration with Sekolah Relawan (SR), mobilized to deliver direct assistance to the affected areas.

On 10 and 12 December 2025, AMAG colleagues from the Padang and Medan Branch Offices, together with the Sekolah Relawan team, carried out aid distribution activities. In Padang, the team distributed 100 food packages and 100 sleeping kits through the Masjid Takwa Muhammadiyah Post in Salareh Air Timur, reaching two affected villages. Meanwhile, in Medan, assistance was delivered to Bellvania Orphanage, consisting of food packages, healthy snacks, and sleeping kits to support the comfort and well-being of the beneficiaries.

The aid distribution continued on 18 December 2025, when the AMAG Medan team and Sekolah Relawan provided assistance in Tamiang Regency, Aceh. The support included 1,000 ready-to-eat meal packages, 80 sleeping kits, and health services. In addition, other forms of assistance were delivered, including two LCR boats, 15 platoon tents, two water tanks, 10 clean water containers, and 100 baby kits. All assistance was tailored to the specific needs of each location.

All aid was distributed based on field assessments to ensure it reached the right beneficiaries, particularly vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and affected families. Despite challenges related to difficult access and extreme weather conditions, the activities were successfully carried out thanks to strong synergy, coordination, and the spirit of mutual cooperation among all parties involved.

AMAG remains committed to being present and contributing on an ongoing basis, not only during the emergency response phase but also in supporting social and humanitarian recovery in line with community needs. May all survivors be granted strength and resilience as the affected areas recover and communities rebuild toward a better future.
